NAFSC 2023

July 16-21, 2023 with a post-conference tour July 21-23, 2023

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we would like to invite you to the 14th North American Forest Soils Conference (NAFSC) in Eugene, Oregon.

This international conference on the management and science of forest soils has been organized every 5 years, typically alternating between Canadian and US venues. The first NAFSC was established in 1958 and held on the campus of Michigan State University. The cutting-edge science presented at NAFSC conference remained standard references in the fields of soils and forestry for decades after their presentation. Academics, researchers, private companies, and governmental organizations from many countries attend the conference.

The four day-long main conference incorporates three days of keynote, oral, and poster presentations and networking opportunities and a day-long mid-conference field tour where we will explore the diversity of management, forests, and soils of the McKenzie River watershed.  During one evening of the main conference, we will celebrate our fellowship during a banquet at a local winery. Following the main conference will be an optional post-conference tour based out of the OSU Cascades Campus in Bend Oregon. During the post-conference tour, we will explore forests, management issues, and soils on some of Oregon’s youngest volcanic parent materials – while enjoying one of the PNW’s premier tourist destinations (Bend, OR).
